Outstanding Scenery & Awesome Fishing

Williams Creek Lodge is a fantastic lodge located near Terrace on a creek with copious amounts of trout and salmon. Most of the fishing will be done in the Terrace & Kitimat areas with many rivers to choose from.
Williams Creek Lodge specialises in an off the beaten track approach for steelhead and salmon giving the anglers the opportunity to fish away from the crowds and finding solitude.
You will fish the coastal rivers out of Douglas
channel in Kitimat - this will give you access to these rivers from the ocean.
The water in these magnificent rivers is green and there are over 30 rivers to choose from in the area plus you have the ocean fishing as well.
Couple this with outstanding scenery and awesome fishing, why would you want to go
anywhere else?

About
The Lodge and the Fishing
Williams Creek Lodge
Intro by Dave Lewis.....
The fishing
Williams Creek Lodge is located just outside the town of Terrace in central BC, Canada,
Williams Creek Lodge was the location for some of the finest salmon fishing I have ever
experienced. With fishing available throughout a wide section of the famed Skeena River and it’s numerous tributaries, guests staying at Williams Creek Lodge also benefit from exclusive guided access to several coastal rivers.
The fishing we experienced on these
remote and incredibly beautiful hidden gems was simply amazing. Depending on the time
of year you fish it is possible to catch all five species of Pacific salmon, plus steelhead as
the Skeena is widely recognized for being a truly world class river for these beautiful and
incredibly hard fighting sea running rainbow trout. And were this not enough lodge guests
also have the option to fish offshore for salmon, halibut and numerous other species.
It is important to note that Williams Creek Lodge isn’t a fancy fishing hotel. It is however
the ideal destination for fishermen looking to experience some of the very best sport
Canada has to offer. The lodge itself is spacious, the rooms are comfortable, and the
location perfect.
Guests prepare their own breakfasts in a well stocked kitchenette within the main living area, with plenty of choice including eggs, bacon, a selection of cereals, pastries and, of course, coffee! A good lunch pack is provided for each fishing day, and the home cooked evening meals are excellent. No alcohol is provided, but you will be given the
opportunity to stock up with your favourite tipple on the short drive from the airport.
Depending on where and for what you are fishing your day will start from as early as
0430, which is necessary in order to secure the absolute prime spots on the Skeena for
steelhead and salmon.
Generally guests get two opportunities to fish the coastal rivers or offshore during a week, and on these days you’ll need to be ready to leave by 0530 as it involves approximately a one hours drive to the coast, towing the lodge boat. On other days you may leave the lodge later.
If fishing for halibut or salmon in the sea, afterlaunching the boat it’s a short run out to the fishing grounds. If fishing the coastal rivers, it’s around an hours run, towing a jet boat. Whales are often spotted on these trips, we saw several each day, which really adds to the experience.
On arrival at the mouth of the coastal rivers the transfer boat is anchored, but only after
dropping a couple of crab traps for Dungeness crab for that night’s dinner. Next, guests transfer to the jet boat for the run up the river to the best fishing areas.
The scenery you’ll pass through is breathtaking, with each pool full of salmon.
It is important to remember that boats are used merely to access the best areas of the
river to fish. The only time we actually fished from a boat was during the day we spent at
sea. If fishing the coastal rivers there may be four anglers to one guide, we actually fished
five anglers with absolutely no problem at all. Other days you may be teamed up two or
three anglers to a guide, it all depends on where you fish.
The guides we fished with were always ready to offer advice if and when necessary. If you are an experienced angler they simply point you to a suitable section of river to fish, and let you get on with things which is exactly how many anglers, myself included, like it. If you need help they’ll obviously be more than happy to assist where necessary.
Fishing is focused mainly on fly fishing, but you will have an opportunity to spin if that is
what you want.
I would suggest that Williams Creek Lodge is ideal for those anglers who have some experience fishing a double handed rod.
If not, as was the case with myself,
then your guide will quickly have you casting sufficiently well enough to catch fish. Darren
Bisson, the lodge owner, had me casting a double handed salmon rod. At the time this was new to me, within ten minutes of picking the rod up I caught my first chum salmon!
Overall, this was one of the most productive and enjoyable fishing trips I have ever
experienced, and I shall certainly be returning to William Creek Lodge at the earliest
opportunity; complete with my own double handed rod!
