Sailfish and more...
The standard trip will be a combination of offshore fishing for the many sailfish, tuna and marlin and inshore fishing for Cubera, Roosterfish and Snook to name but a few.

One of the worlds best kept secrets

Samara is located in Guanacaste province on the ocean side of the Gulf of Nicoya, not far from the countries border with Nicaragua. A friendly, functional and fun loving town, Samara has managed to escape the mass tourism that has taken over so many coastal towns in the country.
Fishing at Samara is either inshore or offshore. Inshore involves casting or jigging lures for multiple species including roosterfish, various types of jack, cubera snapper, mackerel, tuna, dorado and many, many more. Offshore fishing in the bluest of blue water you’ll be targeting blue, black and striped marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, dorado and wahoo.
One of the major attractions with choosing Costa Rica as a destination is that the countries flora and fauna is so incredibly rich. Each morning we are invariably woken by howler monkeys, often howling on the roof above our bedrooms. Everywhere the birdlife is incredible, while out on the water you never know just what you might see next. At times it can feel as if you are fishing on the set of a Blue Planet documentary, which indeed you are; much of the breathtaking footage screened during these wonderful programs was filmed right here. On any day you’ll likely come across dozens of turtles, and if you run out to blue water you’ll be greeted by the incredible sight of thousands of spinner dolphins, amongst which you’ll fish for much of the day as tuna and billfish feed upon the same species of baitfish as those dolphins. Sightings of free jumping rays, whale sharks, highly venomous sea snakes and occasionally even humpback whales, all help to create the trip of a lifetime.
